In "Saints Wear White" DUYI HAN, a US-based artist born in Shanghai, envisions a set of murals painted on the walls of a church to celebrate and advocate for the doctors and nurses who are heroes in the current COVID-19 pandemic. Han says he wanted to elevate perceptions of medical staff impacted by the crisis through his fresco, which echoes Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling. With quarantines in place, Han recognizes that the actual painting will have to wait, and instead created these images digitally. As he said, “It is important to see this work NOW, and I want (the church) to feel real so that we have a subject to put our hope and faith in, to feel emotionally connected to.”
